I've searched about this, my problems seems different.

The screen on my iBook 500 seems to die unexpectedly, without me touching a thing. No amount of prodding, leveraging or bending helps. A restart however fixes it straight away.

Any ideas?

ps, it just did it there now, i'm typing this blind.

Actually, closing the lid, putting it to sleep and opening it again fixed it this time.

I'd say replace the reed switch cable, my iBook used to be the same.

If you've already done it then it may be a logic board problem

My screen cable and new hinge were the ones used in the iBook G4.
The iBook G4 screen cable is thinner and the gaps on the hinge bigger.

I purchased mine off eBay from a person in Canada, I can try and find the seller if you like.
