That’s it; I’ve made up my mind for good! I’ve been struggling with using both my 17” PowerBook and my HP laptop for two long. I’ve even tried just using the HP for a few months because of it’s better performance and better specs. But the bottom line is I just like the PowerBook better and get more done when I’m using it!

I like OS X more than XP, I like Final Cut Pro better than Avid, and I like not having to worry about Spy Ware and Viruses. All my other software, Photoshop, Cubase SX, Office, iTunes and all the standard Web stuff work well and I’ve found tools and utilities that do all the other tasks I used the PC for.

I guess I just figured out that there is nothing wrong with just using what I like. The PowerBook is a joy to use and can do everything I need (and want) to do very well. It’s not as fast as the HP and doesn’t have all the latest “goodies”, but that will come next year! And in the mean time, I’m going to enjoy having such a nice laptop now and get back to focusing on “the work”; I think I forgot that’s what it’s supposed to be all about.

Funny, I came to a similar decision yesterday. I've been using a thinkpad for several months in order to use speech recognition software only available for XP. The speech thing has been quite difficult to get used to and I've pretty much hated XP. I suddenly decided yesterday that I just don't want to deal with XP anymore and sold my thinkpad! I'll use whatever other means to deal with my RSI - but I found myself using more time troubleshooting glitches in XP than I did using the speech recognition software! People can have lots of arguments for why PC laptops are more powerful, have brighter screens, better video cards etc BUT at the end of the day it all boils down to one thing: Macos X. I love it and feel happy (and calm) knowing that my comnputer will work predictably every time I switch it on and that if there's ever a serious problem it is most likely to be a hardware problem. At least the operating system doesn't always get in your way the way XP does (whether you have a problem or not).

Anyway, enjoy! I know I will.
