Given that the 12 incher doesn't have a 'PC card' slot, is there any way I could use an EVDO product like Verizon Broadband (probably modified?) with my powerbook?
Thanks!

You may be able to find a phone that supports EVDO and BlueTooth.

You're not supposed to, but if you get a VCAST phone with subscription from Verizon Wireless (which is using the EVDO technology)... you can use the bluetooth to connect to the internet. I use this with a Motorola e815 and it's great. AND, it's cheaper ($15 a month instead of $60). Technically it's against the terms and conditions though.

Lots of thanks guys. Being a nontechie, I am of course clueless on how to do the actual work, but I think i'll give it a shot.
So, apparently I have to buy a Verizon compatible phone with a VCAST plan, and EV-DO compatible, right? Will the RAZR do it?
Thanks a bunch guys once again!

The RAZR is not Vcast compatatable. I have a Kyocera KPC650 EVDO card which I can use with either my 17" Powerbook or my Sony T250 10.6" screen laptop, since Apple had no offering with PC slot 12" or under.

If you are going to use EVDO don't use bluetooth. What's the point of EVDO then? Bluetooth is a slow transfer protocol. Get a USB cable from radioshack or verizon and hook your phone directly via USB to your computer. In Los Angeles & San Jose area I get around 200k/sec...

What are these people talking about?
OK... yes, you need a VCAST compatible phone. I haven't seen the official specs on the the new Verizon RAZR, so we'll have to see about that.
As for the bluetooth and EVDO, the speed of internet access you'll get through EVDO doesn't hit a ceiling when you're using bluetooth, so there's no reason to use a USB cable. You can, if you want, but you might as well be wireless (I can initiate the connection with the phone in my backpack in the trunk... )
