Few months old 15" 1.5 PB 80gig HD and when I run in the utilities the disk check utility it always gives me an error when trying to verify the disk. The option to repair the disk is grayed out. Verify and repairing permissions works fine, but I am wondering is this a sign my hard drive is going?

You can't repair a disk that you've booted from. To repair the disk, you need to boot from the restore CD that came with your Powerbook and go into disk utility there.

You still might. I was just telling you why the option to repair the disk was grayed out.

In any case, you should back up your data as quickly as possible, if you haven't already. If disk utility can repair the errors, then you're probably ok for now, barring a mechanical failure.
