A buddy of mine offered me his Powerbook for a decent price. Im trying to figure if i should buy it or not.
Specs:
G4 1.33ghz
15'' screen
1gb of ram
75gb harddrive
OSX Tiger
VPC6 w/Win XP Pro and Office for Mac
All disks for the software.
One small dent on the corner by the charging port from dropping it wile it was in the bag, doesnt affect usefullness.
Offered it to me for $1500
Im really thinking of going for this one. Should i buy it?

For $500 more you could get a brand new 15" powerbook with no dents, a better resolution screen & faster processor. Or for the same price you could get a 12" powerbook with a superdrive and a 1.5 ghz processor.
Depends what you want really and how much you are prepared to spend

Well this one has a superdrive in it. Plus im seeing all this stuff about the new ones have lines in the screen. $1500 is pretty much my limit since im having to sell a few things in order to get this one. If i though i could go for $2000, id get a refurbed 17'' from apple.
Another selling point for me is it has VPC with it. Thats a few hundred bucks i dont have to shell out and 1gig of ram.

I would do it, because if you are a true nerd, you wouldn't care about the dents, you would care about the office pro and VPC6 with XP pro, my only regret would be that the guy has probably maxed out on upgrades, so if you are the type that wants a lappy to last a while, don't go through with it.
Just ask him this one question, "Why don't you want it anymore?"

I would just get the 12" and save for a spacious LCD to hook it up to.

Apple was recently selling a refurb 15" 1.33 for $1299 through the apple store, but it didn't have the extra 512 mb RAM, applecare, or a superdrive, or software. I'd say those are worth $200. but do check the special deals section of the apple website to be sure there's not a better deal there.

You've pretty much sold it on your self with all the "selling points" you've added bro Sounds like a good deal to me as long as you want it and it's in good condition.

I`d say get a 12in Powerbook. If you really want extra screen realistate, but a cheapo CRT monitor for your desk. Trust me on this one, a 12in is a travelers and students best friend.

That AppleCare won't cover anything that fails on your machine until you pay to have the dents fixed. That'll cost you about $650 in a mail-in repair.

New ones are NOT $2000! Buy from Amazon and take advantage of all discounts and rebates and get it for around $1750.
