Here's the deal.

When my battery hits 30% (or very close to it) my PB 12' quits.

JUST QUITS.

I hate that.

System Version: Mac OS X 10.4.3

If calibrating doesn't work, you'll probably need a new battery. How old is it?

The battery is 18months old and I typically let it run down to zero before hooking it up on the charger.

Though I am starting to question the battery, one other thing - when I plug the PB12 back in to the power and start it back up (using the power button), the internal clock is FUBAR.

Sounds like the Power Management circuit in the battery might be bad as well. Try resetting the PMU in the laptop to rule that out.. If that and cycling the battery doesn't fix your problem, then your battery is officially toast. It will only get worse in the coming months.
