because of all the screen problems with the new pb 15" i went to the apple refurb site and thought a last generation unit might be my best bet. i know the screen rez is lower and the cpu is a bit slower and the video card has less mem. i have only had an ibook 14" so dont know alot, but does the 1.5g pb 15" seem like a good choice for avoiding the issues that the newer unit has? or does it have issues too? is it a good value by comparison? im not factoring in the possible mactel stuff in january.

thanks for any help.

gangster, that's the exact model I bought new last February. I paid $1999 for it and love it. I've added another stick of ram and have never had a single prblem with it. My battery is still at 96% and lasts about 3 to 3 1/2 hours depending on what I'm doing.

I have a 15" 1.5ghz from an older revision (mine was the superdrive model but I ditched the SD). Haven't had any major problems with it to date that weren't freak things. Needed a new LCD (developed a line of stuck pixels - probably from being carried w/ heavy books in my backpack a lot). Anyway, apple took care of that asap (had the machine back in like 3-4 days). I would say that's a good price and you should jump on it if you want a powerbook.

I've had my 1.5 15" for about a year and a half now. It's only been in the shop once for dead pixels, but other than that...still chugging right along. I can't live without it! I've used it mainly for web browsing, gaming, video editing and some audio recording.
I gotta have more cowbell.
