If you burn a Dual-Layer disc with data, can these be read by "regular" SuperDrives?

Is there a good compatibility chart of manufacturers for use with the new PowerBooks, or other DL Macs in general? Supermediastore has some decent prices for this stuff. Also, is it only DVD+R (not -R) format?

Thanks.

Yes.
http://videohelp.com has reports for media/computer combinations, although not necessairly with Macs.

Cut and pasted from my own post on macintouch.com regarding this topic:

So yes, every DVD drive ever made can read double-layer discs (pressed ones, at least).
All that's new is the ability to burn your own "double-layer" (DVD+R DL) or "dual-layer" (DVD-R DL) DVDs. As with regular single-layer DVD-R and DVD+R discs, read compatibility of burned dual- or double-layer discs won't be 100%, but should be high enough to make them useful. (For what it's worth, DVD-R tends to be compatible with slightly more drives and players than DVD+R.)

Unless you change the booktype setting on your DVD+R to DVD-ROM, in which case it works in just about every player. Most of the good drives and burning software will let you do this.
I forget why, but for some reason you can't change the booktype on DVD-R.
