I'm buying a powerbook in december, since I'm a native spanish speaker I would like the keyboard to be in spanish.
When you order it from the online store you can custom order it with this keyboard (and it's completely free!!). But I will have an Apple store very near to where i'll be staying in the US (Chicago, IL), so I was wondering, if I buy the PB at the physical apple Store (instant gratification!!!) can they change the keyboard there for free? Or do they have systems already configured like that there?
Thanks!

I don't think they have systems with the spanish keyboard already configured there. I also don't think they'll just change it for free (it'd surprise me if they had the spanish language keyboards in stock at all). Your best bet is to call the apple store and ask about it, and if they say no you might just have to go online.
Let me try my rusty spanish:
No creo que tengan ninguno powerbook con un teclado espanol en la tienda y tambien no creo que van a cambiar el teclado que tengas con uno espanol gratis (estare sorprendido si tendran uno). Yo te aviso que es mejor llamar la tienda (si peudes) y preguntanles tus preguntas. Si no te pueden ayudar, debes comprarlo en la red informatica.

This is one of the BTO options for the PB:
Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English
Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS - Western Spanish
Is Western Spanish what you are looking for? If so, then problem solved!
They're unlikely to have them in store though. In which case, you'd have to order it online.

Apple Stores don't stock non-US laptop keyboards. In fact, they don't even stock US laptop keyboards. Whenever a customer needs a new keyboard, it's shipped to the store from Apple.

I wonder if there's any way to buy it (with a spanish configuration) and have it for in-store pickup. I think that would work too, I wonder if that can be done.

For a definite answer, I think you'd have to ask one of the stores.

Yeah.. talk to the store. And let us know how you get on.
Any reason why you prefer store pickup to home delivery?

Well, I can't call the store right now because I'm not in the US (I'll be there on 11 December). I'd rather pick it up from the store for two reasons:
1. No waiting time until delivery... meaning instant gratification!!!
2. With the screen problems 15" PB seem to have, I'd rather go to the store and get a replacement there (again, no long waiting time) than repacking the whole thing, send it over to Apple and waiting another long time until I get it back. I just prefer doing things personally.
Thanks for all the advice so far BTW. I guess I'll just have to wait until I get to the US to call an Apple store.
