So I make a home made movie in iDVD 5, cut in FCP 5. I burn the DVD and all is well but after I burn it the DVD won't play. I try it on a home DVD player and it works and it works on my friends Dell Desktop. But get this...it wont play on a Toshiba laptop or my friends IBM laptop (less than year old machines). I have 17" PB 1ghz and this is my first DVD since switching from FCP 4 to FCP 5. Those cut in FCP 4 work no prob in their laptops also. So im friggin goin nuts. Any ideas? I searched around and I could not find anything on this issue. So hit me up if anyone can assist me on this dilema. I use CompUsa 2x DVD-R which I have been using for years with no issue.

Is this the only DVD that you've tried burning? What is the length of the project? Do you have compressor? Does the DVD mount?

If the disc mounts, my guess would be bandwidth. Especially if there is a lot of motion in the project.

How do you encode your audio? Is it a .aiff file or .ac3? I would recommend .ac3.

Unfortuneately, I've never used iDVD, only DVDSP 2, so I'd have to do some more research on how iDVD masters a disc.
I gotta have more cowbell.

wow i forgot to post how i fixed this problem, well first of all I bought an MCE dual layer drive and it still didnt work, I found out that the drivers for my Lexar jump drive were the issue. I uninstalled the Lexar drive files and all is well. I have a PowerBook superdrive I took out that has no home...anyone interested?

Well if no discs mount the drive may be bad...try deleting the DVD drive prefernces, use search, or try making another user and try discs with that user.
