This has only been happening in the last few days, and i dont really know why, but its really annoying me.
When using the PB all of a sudden the volume, brightness, and keyboard backlight keys on the keyboard dont respond, the power button has no effect (no shutdown menu appears) unless i hold it down to force a shutdown. Going to the force quit item in the apple menu to try and restart the finder has no effect, i click on it and nothing happens. As well as this, the computer doesnt go to sleep for some time (like 10 mins or so) when i close the lid, and it is impossible to shut it down or restart via the apple menu. When trying to turn the keyboard backlight off using system prefs, it hangs when i select the keyboard and mouse menu item from the main screen.
the only way i have found to get out of this is to hold down the power button until it turns off and restart osx(.4.3). this seems really strange to me, does it sound like a software issue or hardware? If its hardware the unit is well within the applecare lifetime but its quite an effort to take it in for service given where i live.
Any help would really be appreciated, maybe other people have had this problem before but i wouldnt know what to search the forums for.
