Hi, My pbk is only about 6 months old, it had been working flawlessley until now.

I have been using the Dvd player app just about once a week since I got the pbk. But now, when I try to resume playing a dvd the Dvd player goes to the little swirley colorfulk thing that shows you it's working. Then the Dvd player freezes and the drive makes the noise like it's about to play the Dvd like it always does. Then it slows the disc down and makes a quiet ennt noise and tries again, repeating the process until you have to force-quit the Dvd player App.

I have tried re-booting and ejecting the disc, as well as playing other dvd's, but still- no luck. It's a 12" pbk G4, 1.5 ghz, 768 megs RAM, and it still has applecare.

Advice please- Thanks.

Have Console (/Applications/Utilities/) running before doing that, and see if any DVD player or disk-related messages are recorded in the Console.

Can you boot up from your Installer DVD? Try running Hardware Test.

Maybe you just have dirty optics that need cleaning...
