I've made reservations at the genius bar in Soho in the past without a problem, even though there was always a long wait. I just tried to make a reservation for today (it's 6am here) and was told that because of high service demand they can not assist me at this time and that I should a) try again later or b) look into buying procare which alllows you to make reservations 7 days in advance.

Given that procare people get service first, is it even possible anymore to get service at the applestore in soho for us mortals with standard applecare, or do we once again have to put out more money to get fast support?

Not an answer to your question, but some perspective none the less.

thanks, very useful information : ) So, maybe I'll just jump on the ferry next time and head for Staten Island! This time, though, I ended up at Tekserve - always a great place even though waiting and repair times are not always great.

cheers,
pete
