I seen many links for Powerbook memory such as Kingmax. I found Crucial memory for $105 (the Kingmax is $140) and would just like to know if anyone has upgraded their newer PB (1.5, 12 inch) with it and how it worked. I know ill never really know until I try but just looking for experience. Thanks

I bought a gig from crucial for my 15" PowerBook.
It was expensive, but has worked flawlessly.

Just because the numbers match doesn't mean it will work. It usually does, but there are plenty of people on this site who bought RAM that didn't work or caused crashes/freezes despite the numbers matching.
If you would like to forego the compatibility guarantee to save money, NewEgg loves you. People report success with that stick in Mac hardware (look at the user reviews).

I bought crucial 2 years ago - no probs - I'm feeling the need to buy more memory, but the chips are so much cheaper for newer machines, guess I'll have to buy a new machine

Crucial likes to provide essentially the same RAM to different books and charge different prices. Be aware of this marketiing strategy.

I bought the Kingmax Kingston RAM from zipzoomfly. It's the first time in ten years that a third-party RAM has been unusable.
No problems with Crucial for the new 15".

I've noticed this too. It may just be from different compatibility requirements (some Mac models are more picky), or it may be something more sinister.
