Hi!

I just noticed (while booting Ubuntu live) that my PowerBook's Combo drive reads cd-r-disks really slow. The transfer speed is 600-900KB/s depending on the disk. However, the drive reads factory-made disks (cd and dvd) at acceptable speeds (cd at 1.5-3MB/s). I don't know if this is just happening now or if the drive has always been like that. At least I haven't noticed this before.

I also noticed, that the burn speed of the drive is ok, it just reads the disks it burns at a much lower speed. Also, the problem is not with individual disks, because the same disks read ok at other computers.

Has anyone experienced this before? If so, how did you correct the problem? Already tried resetting PRAM, NVRAM and PMU, didn't help.
