I'm not sure if this has already been addressed in other forums, but I have a Ti Powerbook that I've been using for the last three years, with no problems. In the last couple of weeks, quite slowly, I've been noticing a strange blue tinge over my wallpaper. Now, this strange blue tinge seems to have infected all my browsers, my mail, and my DVD reader. Ironically, iPhoto, iTunes and Photoshop have been unaffected. I'm not sure what's going on.

What's worse is this blue tinge has recently been accompanied by some vertical jumping. My windows start flickering, in a vertical fashion, making it almost impossible to work.

I heard somewhere else that this could be due to font corruption. I'm on OX 10.3.9. Do I need to wipe everything into oblivion and reinstall? Is this a hardware issue?

Is the flickering aggravated by certain functions, such as FLASH presentations? Does the position of the screen (its tilt) seem to make a difference?

Flickering is usually a hardware-related problem. Do some searching in the forums on Apple's Support discussions and you'll find some causes and potential solutions. It could easily, for a 3-year old laptop, be a corroded/worn wire going to your screen or some weirdness with teh video card.

It could also be software, but it seems less likely to me. I had a flickering problem with my powerbook about a year after I bought it in 2001. The problem was mostly fixed, but not entirely... hardware in this case.
