Both my Dad and I are looking to upgrade our powerbooks from 512mb to 1.5gb soon and I need some advice on memory selection. I read some good reviews saying Crucial was a good choice for the PB's. But i guess the more important question is if he has a 17" 1.33ghz PB and i have a 15" 1.5ghz PB, could we buy this 2gb kit (2x 1gb) and put one stick in each laptop? Would both of our laptops be compatible with this?

Neither of your laptops support DDR2, so that kit would be useless to you.

You'll need one of these for you and one of these for him.

If you're willing to forego the guaranteed compatibility that Crucial offers using the memory selector, you can buy the same sticks from Newegg for a bit less money.

DDR2 is in high volume production now, whereas DDR is deprecated; same thing happened switching from SDRAM to DDR SDRAM.
