Hello,

Looking for any advice on this rather odd problem. I recently changed the display hinges on a 15" Powerboook (Gigabit Ethernet) unit. Everything went back together properly and appears to be working fine. Only problem I'm noticing is the video card (or display driver) is only recognizing the internal LCD as having a max resolution of 1152x768, rather than 1280x832. I can't honestly say if the display has been changed before as this was my first time turning on the machine.

Here's what the display looks like at 1132x768.

I've reset the NVRAM, done a PRAM reset, booted to a Tiger Install DVD, and tried booting to OS 9 - all produce the same result. Also tried reseating the display cable for the heck of it - still no dice.

My guess is the LCD isn't sending DDE data to the video card properly.

Thoughts, ideas? I'm looking for anything. Thanks!

Is that the same LCD panel as came with the Powerbook? The earlier units used an 1152x768 LCD and the later (DVI) models used a 1280x854 panel. They are not interchangeable.

I'm not certain that this is the original LCD - it could very well have been changed. I'll ask the other techs I work with here to see if that's been done. Were there any 1280x832 LCDs made available on the older Ti books, or were they all 1152x768?

All 1152x768 on the 400/500/550 and 667 Gigabit Ethernet (with VGA output rather than DVI.)

Cool... thanks for the help. (Now I've got a good LCD for a 667 DVI which needs one )
