So I have an old Pismo that has been on a shelf for about six months. Pulled it down the other day to wipe it and give it to charity. It of course wouldn't boot (batteries drained) so I plugged it in and promptly forgot about it for a couple of days. I pulled it down again today and was disturbed to find that it still wasn't booting, the batteries don't report a charge and removing the batteries and keeping it tethered to power still won't allow it to boot.

Now I guess the problem could be the yo-yo, but I kind of doubt it. Perhaps there is a little LIon on the system board that I have to replace? Anyone have a good link to a troubleshooting guide for this problem or wan't to talk me through it.

thanks!

brett

Try disconnecting the internal battery (not the big one on the left of the palm rest, the one under the keyboard). Then plug it in and try powering up.

There is an internal battery under the palmrest, do you mean the external batteries (the ones in the bays) if so I've already ejected each one seperatly and both together to no avail. If you mean there is some kind of battery inside that case that will require screw removal to remove, I was about to crack the case to see if the inverter might be disconnected anyways and I'll check for it while I'm in there.

There's an internal batter underneath the keyboard. It is located approximately where the arrow keys are. It is covered by the right edge of the CD/DVD drive. You have to eject the optical drive to get access to it. No screw is required to remove it. It is oval and black with a bit of brown. A twisted pair of wires come out of it (red and white). Follow the wires the nearby white connector and carefully pull it out.

After that try to power up. If it works, then the internal battery was completely dead and you probably need a replacement.
