Can I get more memory (space) by deleting things I don't need? If so, does sending them to the trash remove them, or how do I completely remove files?

The trash is just like the recycling bin in Windows in that you have to empty it to actually delete the files after you move them there.

In the Finder, go to the "Finder" menu and select "Empty Trash."

"One ticket to Washington, please. I have a date with destiny."

This isn't about an iBook-specific topic.
