it appears to be a very popular way to sell movies here in iraq. you'll find lots of dvds with 3 or even 6 movies on 1 dvd disc.

the other day i purchased one and popped into my ibook. i can tell it wasnt going to work because the drive make a very loud scratchy/weird noise.
the same dvd works just fine on a commercial tv dvd player.
why wont it play on my ibook?
it would just spin and spin and spin then eject.
anybody have any experience with these discs?

Hej 2Cows,
If your in Iraq, be safe I support what your doing over there. As far as a DVD9 disk having 3 to 6 movies on it, you can assume it has been pirated and not a retail disc. That means it's either been recompressed or in a different format. One that your DVD player can read but your Mac can't. Try this. Go into preferences and turn off the play DVD when inserted..to ignore. Insert the disc. Does it mount on the desktop? Open the folder. You should see two folders for each movie. An AUDIO_TS and a VIDEO_TS folder. Try copying the VIDEO_TS folder to your desktop. Eject the disc. Open Apple DVD player. Go to the DVD player drop down menu. File>Open VIDEO_TS Folder and select the Video_TS folder you just copied to your desktop. Did that work? You mentioned a tv dvd player. Was it a built into the TV combo type thing. IS the TV made for America NTSC? perhaps it is SECAM format...popular in France and the middle east. If the above things didn't work then you are dealing with either a DIVX encoded DVD disc or other format. It it was just a recompressed DVD it would still work in your Mac. It is mostly a different format then. I saw a lot of pirated music cassettes back in the early 80's when I was in Tiaf, SA. Be Safe
