So the hard drive on my girlfriend's powerbook crashed, wouldn't mount, volume was totally gone.

diskwarrior and tech tools found nada, but data rescue II ($100!) got 95% of my data off. problem is, i've got 750+ word documents that although the contents are complete, are renamed to doc001, doc002, etc

anybody want to write me an applescript that will open a word file, and rename the file to the first line of text in the document?

at least maybe now she'll listen when i tell her to back up her stuff

Sorry about your hard drive, but what does this have to do specifically with Powerbooks? Search Versiontracker for "rename." There are many renaming apps there.
