I've inherited a pismo in non working condition I'm trying to get back up and working.
Here's the story:
a friend had the pismo, someone tripped over the power cord while it was plugged in and broke the power cable connector off of the back of the pismo. He bought a new power/sound module, I helped him open the pismo up and we replaced the power/sound module. He closed it back up (after I left) and it wouldn't power on. He gave it to me to try to get working, I took it part, found some of the cables weren't reconnected, so I reseated everything and buttoned the pismo back up. Now when I push the power button with the pismo plugged in, nothing seems to happen, however if I press the caps or numlock buttons they light up, if I hold in the power button while the caps/numlock keys are lit up, the lights go out. The battery is charging, however if I press the button on the cd/dvd rom drive, nothing happens.
Any ideas as to what's wrong? Think the old power/sound module could have shorted out part of the logicboard?
Thanks
-Jeff

I don't have a pismo but recall a recent thread whereby it was suggested to make sure that the logic board battery is in good working condition as pismos don't like to wake up without it.
edit: the suggestions in this thread might help you.

Push the reset button in the back ONCE, then try starting. Zap PRAM, etc.

hi,
the processor module on the pismo is notoriously difficult to seat and gives the symptoms you are mentioning. so you might want to recheck that it is properly seated. to do so, remove any ram from the top slot, position the module properly and then press VERY FIRMLY right over the socket. (your finger will need to be where the top ram module would be). push until you feel it sinking into the socket.
good luck,
rich (g4 12 rev C but still got my trusty pismo)

I had the same thing with my pismo, after installing new ram in the slot under the daughter card with the processor on. Can't emphasise enough how hard you have to press. I pressed so hard that I thought I'd knackered it, so I thought "what the hell" and hit it with a screw driver handle till I heard a sickening crunch. Pressed the power button, everything started perfectly and I'm still using it as my main machine today. Electronics are unpredictable! Did you have to remove the daughter card when you were replacing the power module?
