I have an ibook G3/900, 640mb ram, 60gb hdd, running 10.3.9.
Okay, i have just "ahem" acquired a copy of Tiger, and my first question is- should i really go with 10.4, Second- can i install from 10.3 and keep all my files and programs, And also, I have heard a lot of not-so-good stories about installing Tiger on G3 ibooks.

I just have a lot of important and hard to find stuff on my laptop, and i just dont want to screw it up, but i REALLY want Tiger installed, PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME WITH THIS, AND FAST

You have "aquired" it?!? Seriously, i wouldn´t trust a system that was sucked in slices through a peer to peer network for doing important stuff. *Ahem*, i never did pay for MS software, but always buyed Apple sw.

Yes, you should be able to do an upgrade with no problems.

I don't know who told you that Tiger is not good for G3 iBooks, but I have Tiger on my iBook 900MHz and my Pismo 900MHz. Everything runs fine. However, the Pismo does seem to be a bit better (probably because it has 1GB RAM while the iBook only has 640MB).

Tiger runs great on my G3 800MHz. You can do an upgrade which will keep all of your files but, having tried that myself, I can say that you won't get the performance that you would from doing an erase and install. So, if you can, back up everything you need (which you should be doing anyways) and do a clean install.

I run tiger myself on my 600mhz ibook and it does just fine also. Go for it. But i agree with JoshKurtz, do a clean install if you can.

1. Back up the files that are important to you.
2. Get a legit copy of the OS.
3. Do a clean install.
4. Take Cincinnati off your location. You're making us look bad.
