HI All,
I've got a digital camera with wifi, and I want to use it to send files to my powerbook at airport extreme speeds ("g" speeds). It seems I need a wifi router to do this, computer-to-computer won't do it.
fyi: camera is Nikon D2X, wireless adaptor is Nikon WT-2, Powerbook is 12" 1.33GHz with AP Extreme
I've done some research which is confirmed by my tests: if I put the computer into Computer-to-Computer mode, I can only connect at "b" speeds (what I've found out is termed "ad-hoc" mode). I need an actual 802.11g router to connect at "g" speeds (what is termed "Infrastructure" mode).
Of course, I'm willing to be proven wrong, but I need step by step instructions, as I've been pretty thorough ;-)
I can't seem to find any reference to this issue at Apple. and it make me wonder: if I connect two Macs with one in computer-to-computer mode, do they connect at "b" or "g" speeds? I've had one person in a photography forum suggest that they will be limited to "b" speeds unless one of them is connected to a LAN and is acting as an actual router (as opposed to the two machines just talking to one another). I've only got one PB, so I can't test this out <heh>
Can anyone recommend a tiny "g" router that will do the job? Heck, it doesn't even need an ethernet port, it just has to act as a router for the mac.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Chas
