My 12 inch powerbook will not boot, will not chime, 1.33 model with superdrive.
I can here the HD spin, but get no chime

i pulled the ram and the airport card out, put them back in, and got it to run for about 10 minutes, then the screen faded into verticle lines

I guess the next step is to take in for repair, the warrently ran out in September, and I didn't buy Apple care

I think you`re out of luck. Try booting from an external drive if possible.

Did you try reinstalling OS X? Booting from a CD?

try resetting the power manager:

remove the battery, unplug it.
wait 10 minutes.

hit
option - control - shift - power button, all at once, for a second.

wait a bit, put the battery back, plug it in.

try it.

you could also try resetting the pram:

hold down command-option-P-R on startup, wait till you hear the mac chime twice, release the keys.

just some things to try before you bring it in.

resetting the power manager seemed to get it to boot, running the hardware test off the install cd now...
