I placed an order for one right after the keynote, then cancelled when I forgot to do it with an educational discount. My question is do you guys think I would get it sooner if I order it online or go to my local Apple Store? Did Apple say when they will be in stores? The online shipping estimate is Feb. 15. And lastly, you can get the same educational discount in the stores, right?

Best bet is to watch these forums to see if the are in stores immediately. My guess is that you will get it sooner from a store - but you can't customize them like you can online. Also, it is harder to get the discount in the store. I qualify for it online, but they won't honor it in the store.

Guess I should call tomorrow and see if they'll honor it. I hope I am not screwed with delays now by cancelling my early order.

My two-year-old Powerbook 1.25 Ghz is about ready for an upgrade, that's for sure.

I have never had any problem getting my student disc. at the Apple store, and wouldnt let them deny you.

Actually one year they let me buy 3 systems (2 pb and an iBook) with the discount. I've always found them to be great about it.

I went ahead and ordered online the 1.67 with 1 GB of RAM. Probably would get here sooner than the Apple Store. They put me on the contact list when they get them, though. Surprised there isn't a separate thread for people who ordered...
