i found this nifty page that has an interesting comparisons (chart format, and also text)

the first chart is a powerbook vs. MacBook pro. nothing that hasn't already been beaten to death.

the 2nd chart is what surprised me. MacBook pro vs. Acer Travelmate 8200

this acer is very much similar to the MacBook spec wise. So similiar it is scary. Please read the chart

At first, i was disappointed at the price. i really those intel chips meant cheaper laptops due to the bulk pricing. but now that the acer book is the same price, i am feeling much better. At least i know that Apple isn't trying to rip us off because they have a "monopoly"' on mac users.

For what its worth, i can't find much info about this notebook elsewhere besides the links in that article, but if it is actually as thin as what the chart says (1") then I would be less impressed with apple's design (purely from a thinness standpoint)

Except that the price listed for the Acer is completely untrue. The likely price is $2500, not $1999. The person who posted that comparison lifted the specs and price from another website that has the wrong price listed.
