I just got my 12" 800MHz G3 iBook back from Apple. It went in for scrambled video so they replaced the logic board.
On my repair ticket, it said '900MHZ IBOOK' under 'Parts Used'. Sure enough, when I fire it up and go to 'About this Mac' it says 900MHz PowerPC G3. How cool is that? I know it's not a MacBook Pro but it's still nice to get a free upgrade in whatever shape or form.
I just sent it in on Tuesday, Jan 10th and it's now Friday, Jan 13th @ 11:17am CST. That's fast service.
I was already loyal to Apple but this has made me even loyaler. They did sooo right by me with this.

Thats awesome.
This doesn't compare but i lost a foot on my iBook so when i was around the apple store i took it in and told them about it and they hooked me up with a foot. That was awesome. The sales rep could have easily sold me a set of feet. It's small stuff like this that makes me think Apple is the computer company to go with.

That's hella cool.
I'm reading a book called "The Macintosh Way" that talks about, among other things, Apple's philosophy of doing the right thing in regards to its customers. A pretty good read even though it's from when Steve was still at NeXT so it's events are a little dated but the concepts aren't.

I was making the same joke to my wife. Now I guess the joke is on me since I had to send it back for another logic board and they sent it back to me with an 800MHz again.
The extra horsepower was nice when I had it though...
