In the 3 weeks I've had this I've had my PB freeze up and display the little rainbow wheel of death 2 or 3 times. I wait a minute or two and it does nothing so I have to manually restart it. I must say being a former PC user that thus far Apple has not lived up to its status as being so much better. Don't get me wrong it certainly has some nice features and is more user friendly but if I had to do it over I may have stuck with a PC. Then again I do really hate windows

I had this problem too... it turned out to be bad ram (ram that I added to the powerbook). If you added more ram, I'd take it out and see how it runs w/o it. I think you'll find that it doesn't crash at all anymore.

If, on the other hand, you haven't added anything to the powerbook, then I would take it to the Apple Store and have them check it out... it's probably still bad memory, but since you can't take it out and have no ram, you'll need them to test it.

I had another 512k installed straight from the Apple factory. That would be very surprising but certainly not impossible if that ram card or the original 512k was bad. I had it freeze once when I was downloading multiple files and once just clicking on a website link. Well I'll ask Apple about it since I am also one of the lucky ones to have any file played by Itunes ,Audion or even just an audio sample from a website do thhe skipping glitch thing. I'll let anyone who is interested know what they say.

Well I talked to Apple today and they had me reset some stuff (sorry I don't remember the commands) as mentioned on the bottom of this thread http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...30#post2841130 so the skipping glitch stopped and only time will tell if the freeze ups continue to happen.
