My ibook went to apple care for a new optical drive last week. I bought the ibook in October. Today my ibook has frozen 3 times when I moved it to another room, or just moved it from one table to the next. It also keeps having an IP error.

Do you know why this might be happening or how I can fix it ? When it freezes, it is not just slow on an application, it freezes the mouse and time and it won't even go to a quit screen when i press (Command/Apple + Option + Esc). It makes a long beep when it starts up, before the start up song.

ibook specs: 14in ibook G4 /1GB RAM/ OS-X 10.4.3/1.42 MHz

thanks :-D

Well, not sure why your iBook would freeze when being moved, but I can tell you the beep before the chime certainly isn't a good thing.

Ok, update... it froze again today while I was downloading a podcast or rather listening to a podcast from apples website. Ugh, when I bought my ibook I thought I wouldn't have to deal with this kind of thing because of all the good things I had heard about apple.

I mean, my ibook is 4 months old and just returned from apple care last week!!!

the first time the logic board in my g3 ibook went, i was able to get it to intermittently work by booting in target disk mode to back up all my info on another computer, though my ibook would freeze if i moved it at all during the process, so is it possible your ibook is suffereing from a fried logic board? it seems like the symptoms of a fried logic board can vary so widely that it may not always be your first guess, but could possibly be the problem. hope this helps.
