Ok, this is sort of a story. I have a 12 inch iBook G4 1.2 ghz, which I got in January 2005. Last month, the hard drive failed, so I sent it back to Apple and they replaced the hard drive under warrantee. When I got the iBook back, several keys on the keyboard didn't work! So, I sent it back again so they could take care of that. I just recieved the iBook back 2 days ago, with a new keyboard.

Now, heres the strange part. The new keyboard.... it looks similiar to my previous keyboard, definately a little different, and..... it feels just like a powerbook keyboard! The keys are like twice as solid, and typing on it is much better, it seems exactly like my friend's powerbook.

So, has Apple started using better keyboards on the iBooks? If not, im confused (but certainly am not complaining).

No its not silver, I know it isnt a powerbook keyboard. I was just wondering if they have improved the iBook keyboards since last year, since this one is significantly better than the keyboard that it came with.

i had my logic board replaced in my ibook in dec. 2005, and they also replaced my keyboard. the new keyboard feels a lot more sturdy, but the apple key to the right of the spacebar doesn't work and hasn't since apple first returned it to me. i'm getting a new ibook within a week or so anyhow so i'm not concerned about getting that key fixed. bottom line, yes i think apple is using sturdier keyboards in the ibook.

ps. it's a lot harder to put in/take out this keyboard than my old one, it fits tigher, maybe that's part of why it feels sturdier.
green links don't belong to me!

Maybe they're using keyboards from the upcoming MacBook.
