Hey all,
I was wondering if others had this problem. I recentry tried "Enable Firewall Logging" from the advance menu of the Firewall in System Preferences. Soon after (about 15-20 mins later), I noticed that my processor was working pretty hard and my mouse was jumping around. I looked at Activity Monitor and noticed that kernel_task was taking 25% to 75% of my cpu. At first, I was unsure what was causing it, so I poked around the internet. I found out a suggestion that it had to do with airport, so I shut it off, which caused my processor to calm down. I restarted, repaired permissions, and tried it again, but it started again. I then remembered that I had turned on the Firewall Logging, so I switched it off and I was back to normal. Can anyone replicate this? And, is this normal behavior? I have no need for logging, so I'm ok with it being off, but if in the future I want to turn it on I would hope that I could still use my machine.

I'm using a 15in powerbook (July 2004), 1.5ghz, 1.5gb ram with 10.4.4 on it.
ibook 14", 600 mhz, 384mb ram
mbp 15", 2.2ghz SR C2D, 2 gb ram, 128vram, 20" ACD
powermac dc 2.3ghz, 2.5 gb ram, 20" ACD
3g 30gb ipod, 5g 60gb video ipod, 2g 4gb blue ipod nano, isight
