Is it necessary to reboot my PB every so often. I hear people so it is a good idea to reboot every other day or so, but is this a myth or what are the advantages of doing so? Also, this is not regarding the booting topic, but how do I repare disk permission. I forget the steps. Which CD d I insert and what do I do from there?
Thanks for any help

No. Why reboot?
I hate to reboot. I only reboot when I want switch OSs (XP <-> Vista) or update the OS.

If you have tiger, go to the OS X page of the apple website, search for a widget for dashboard that measures processor usage etc. and there should be a tool that measures % of free space in the RAM, download it then use it. When your free space gets low, thats when you should reboot.

No. Free memory is wasted memory. OS X generally does not clear out RAM until something else needs to use it. Say you launch Safari; the first time it has to load everything from disk. Then, you quit Safari. If you start Safari again sometime in the near future, it will load much faster because a lot of the relevant data are still in RAM.

Reboot your computer if you're having problems. If you're not having problems, then you don't need to reboot.
