Hey guys I'm trying to completely erase my hard drive and restore my powerbook to it's orginal settings. Unfortunately I don't have my Tiger CD, or any of my original CD's. I wanted to know if I could do it directly from the laptop

Huh, I'm confused
directly from what laptop? if your going to erase it, you won't have it?

If you lost the restore discs, call apple they typically have been good and re-sending them out or just buy a copy of Tiger. You never know when you need to reinstall the OS. Having it available will ease some potential headaches like now.

Maflynn, a lot of PCs have a hidden "restore" partition on the hard drive containing Windows XP and any bundled software. This may be what OP is referring to. However, I think it's a terrible idea especially since these PCs usually don't ship with restore discs period.

Muchisgiven... unfortunately you're out of luck without the physical CDs. Call 800-APL-CARE.

I also posted this somewhere else within this forum.

I need to do a complete reinstall of my computer.. but do not know how to do it. I am on an IMac OS 9.1 G3. I have reinstalled my systems folder several times but haven't had to do a complete reinstall. I have the following disks, Application, Software Install, Software Restore 1-4. Any help is appreciated. Beth
