I have a 12 inch Powerbook G4 1.5GHz (1.25GB RAM, 100GB HD). The trackpad was working fine until yesterday, when the trackpad stopped responding to finger movements for several seconds, then after come back to normal. Then it stops responding again after a few minutes, and it goes on and on in a cycle. I am using Mac OS X 10.4.4. I don't know if this is a problem with the trackpad or the trackpad driver. I was having a similar problem in Panther until they fixed it in a later update. Does anyone have any ideas about what could be wrong? Thanks.

Take a close look at the trackpad itself and see if it's seated well. Let's say there is a 1mm drop from the case to the surface of the trackpad, make sure it is the same all the way around it. I often have the forward left corner rise up and I lose contact with it but if I firmly push it back down it stays for a few days. I am talking about my ibook but it may be the same with your PB.
