In cleaning up my old Lombard to give to my daughter, I reformatted the HD and went through a complete install from OS9 through 9.1., then added 10.0 through 10.1.4. The DVD player will work when the computer is booted in OS9.x, but the OSX player didn't load as an OSX app, and won't work in Classic. The latest version of DVD app is 1.3.

There probably is a logical solution to get the app loaded in the OSX Application folder, but it is eluding me.

IIRC, the PowerBook G3 (Bronze Keyboard) uses a hardware-based DVD encoder.

OS X only supports the software-based encoder that was introduced with the "Pismo" PowerBook G3.

So, if you want to watch DVD's, you're gonna have to boot OS 9

One other option would be to use something like VLC. It is a software DVD decoder (although not a very good one), iirc.
