Ive got a nice 1400cs/166 that i like alot. Im just wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade it. It only has 16mb of ram and the 24mb cards to up it to 64mb are $25ea on ebay. Also thinking of putting a bigger harddrive in it. As of right now i think it has a 2gb drive, but i could be wrong. I still use it for somethings around here. Its the best for useing my old Stylewriter 1200 and loading packages on my Newton. Ive got a wireless card for it so it uses our network, just lacking the ram and disk space.

Im typing this post on my G4 and browsing ebay on the 1400.

Hi,

Yeah, I really liked my Powerbook 1400c. It was a neat machine in its day. I even bought a g3 upgrade card for it. Here's some links on upgrades and the like for these machines.

That said, I wouldnt recommend spending very much on such an old model. (I sold mine and its periphs a couple of years ago).

Do you read the roadwarrior column at Macopinion? Lots of good info on older Powerbook models there:

I got a Compact Flash adaptor card for the PC-Card slot and stuck my 96mb card in it. Major difference. Its useing that card as virtiual ram and has 85mb of it. Going to get a 256mb card and see what happens there. Next will be upping the built in ram and harddrive. Im not going to put more than a i paid for it into it. I paid $125 for it a few months back. Ill keep this thread updated on how it works out. This is all just a little side project that im doing and not my main computer since ive got a 12'' 1ghz Powerbook.
