Is there a possibility for a next rev. in the following 4months in which Apple could get a DVD DL drive on the MBP? And if there is, knowing what you know about Apple, which percentaje will it be?

I'm asking this because I'll be going to university next august, and imagine getting a MBP, then a few weeks later there's a new MBP with corrected stuff plus a DVD DL... crappy huh? (But I can't imagine others...)

Thanks for your answer, and sorry if you are sick of getting all this kind of threads, but hey! that's what forums are for... helping others... I think...

Thanks again!

What's an MCP? Do you mean an MBP?

In any case, there's absolutely no way to predict what Apple will do that far ahead of time. Wait for people to at least start getting the first rev! I'm sure it will be a relatively simple after-market upgrade once DL drives in the format (possibly new thinner format not available yet) are available.

It depends on the availability of the slimmer-than-slim optical drives... I'd expect to see superslim DVD DL drives on the market within 6 months, but there's still the question of when Apple would adopt them.

FWIW, I've gone through hundreds of DVD+Rs and never felt the need for a DL; paying 10-25 times as much for twice the storage isn't appealing.

Yeah, my bad on the 'MCP' thing... I was thinking of university (MCP stands for Medico Cirujano Partero, or in english and simplier terms, being a doctor) but what you said mduell is right and also applies to me... in any case I could get any external DVD-DL Burner...

Another question if I may... Is there a possibility to know if an AppleStore (retail) has a MBP? Not right now, but say in 2 months (where I hope the MBP are 100% available)... because imagine traveling for 10hours just to get a "Sorry dude, but no MacBook Pro for you, out of stock, come again in... a week or two..."

I can phone them? Check thru internet?

First timer here...
Thanks for the responses and pardon my english

They should have them in stock in 2 months. You can call them ahead of time.
