I purchased my 15" powerbook in Nov.'05. Upon getting it I calibrated the battery according to the instructions. I have'nt been using the computer much since I got it (very busy at work) and noticed when I tried to power it up last night it was totally dead. When I plugged in the power adapter the light on the plug was green not orange. The time & date also needed to be reset. When I let it charge overnight and powered up this morning and checked the chargetime on the battery icon showed 0%. When I disconnected the charger from the computer it went dark. Please help I'm new to this and could use any advice. Thanks in advance.

Zapping PRAM is simple, just reboot your Mac and hold down "Command(the Apple key)+Option(the Alt key)+P+R" while it is booting, when you hear the startup sound for the second time the operation is complete, and you can release the key combination.

Then reboot as normal should clear up problem

No luck zapping the pram. The light on the power adapter plug never went to orange. It's still green and the battery icon is at 0%. I just plugged my ibook's adapter into the powerbook to see if maybe the adapter was faulty, but that one's indicator light stays green also.

As mentioned above try reseting PMU:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449

per Apple "Over time, the settings in the Power Manager may become unusable, which can result in operational anomalies with the computer. Examples include not turning on, not waking from sleep, not charging the battery, or not seeing the AC Adapter, among others."

Call Applecare immediately: There's no way that a laptop bought in 10/2005 should be having battery problems. If you're close to an Apple Store, take it to the Genius Bar. Run, don't walk.

Apple should replace the battery at no charge--although you might be having charging problems with the logic board. Please post back as to how this turns out.

Have you done the battery firmware update? Mine PB came with an unchargeable battery and the update worked.

The battery firmware update seemed to do the trick. I'll see if all goes well after charging up and running for a bit. Thanks for you help everyone!
