Having never pre-ordered a new model Mac before, I'm surprised that there are no hands-on in depth reviews on the web.
I would have thought that Apple would ship out some production models to sympathetic sites to build up the hype, but there's v little outside of brief hands ons at MacWorld with pre-production models.
Do Apple usually send out Production models prior to shipping to the public? Or do review sites just get their ones along with the rest of us?
Can anyone remember if the G5 iMacs were reviewed online prior to them being shipped to the public?

Google is your friend. Someone did a review a few weeks ago.

There were many mini-reviews, but none on an actual shipping product. Only pre-production. Otherwise the reviewer would say "Battery life is ###".

As the man said ... the "mini-reviews" so far have all been of pre-productiion models.
No matter how friendly Google is - even if it's eyeing you up and rubbing your leg suggestively - it won't get you a review of a production model.
Which goes back to my original question - does Apple normally not ship out to review sites early copies of new models?

Thats an interesting question, I suppose they don't want prototype models out in the public or something for people to base their decisions on??
