Hi all,

I am not sure where this thread belongs to but here it goes. whenever I have anything flash in my browser(even small flash ads on websites or flash games, ...) my powerbook temperature shoots up to 60 degrees. I have to admit my room is warm already so normally it's been running around 47 degrees and above that the internal fan goes on so I tried to run it around 47 degrees.

Does anyone have any ideas why flash would make my pb temperature rise so much to the point that I tried not to load any flash pages to preserve the pb.

Thanks

P.S. I have a 1GHz 12" 769MB OS X 10.4.4

The flash players for OS X suck and eat tons of CPU, heating up your laptop.

No, I just wanted to see if your PowerBook caught on fire. Apparently not!

I think you're worrying too much. Have you upgraded to the latest Flash Player?

hehe yea i kind of realized there's nothing but a ton of flash on that site. Yup I have the latest one. I guess it's just a fact that pb's run hot :/ o well.

I bought it when it first came out for $2000CAD and bought airport extreme card and RAM for it. I think it'll last me quite a while after the ram upgrade. Gotta get my $'s worth and it's cool anyways.

Now you know why I have a hosts file that blocks out most ad servers on the Internet, a CSS file that takes care of what little else gets through, and SafariBlock to block *.swf. :-)

Oh, and JavaScript is turned off as well. Browsing has never been so smooth and un-irritating.
