What do you think would offer better performance for the money on the MBP's?

Between:

2.0 Ghz processor with upgraded 100 Gb 7200 rpm drive + $100 and + 1 Gb ram + $300

or

2.16 Ghz processor + $300 and 100 Gb 7200 rpm drive + $100.

Which would you rather have for the same price? I think I'd go for the ram personally. Think anybody will do a test?

RAM, no question. However, you should consider buying your RAM from a third-party rather than Apple. Much cheaper and much better bang for the buck.

I'd take the 2.0, 7200 RPM drive (+100), and buy RAM from a third party (like Crucial).
If you buy 2x1GB from Crucial and sell the original 512MB ($50-60), the net cost is only $300.
167Mhz isn't worth $300.
