Recently I spilt a drink on my ibook. I let it dry out for three days before opening it up and mopping up the remaining moisture and carefully cleaning up any remnants. It started up fine but has since been overheating more than usual. I've also found that when I close the lid the screen turns off but os x still runs (I tested this by playing a movie. When I closed the lid the movie continued to play and I could still hear the soundtrack). When I open the lid the screen doesn't turn back on and I'm unable to get it to work. I've tried plugging the power cord in and other simple things like that but nothing works. So I shut it down by holding down the power button but when I turn it back on again a fan comes on and goes for ages without os x powering up. I can feel the cool air coming out the air vent above the keyboard but nothing else happens. Only after an hour or so will it power up properly.

This is starting to drive me crazy! I never had any of these problems prior to spilling the drink. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on with the screen or why the fan turns on?

I have this problem with my Ti Powerbook. Close the screen and the machine SOMETIMES goes to sleep. I've formatted and did a clean OSX install w/latest updates but it didn't help. I think it is a heat issue for me. I was thinking about cracking my case and scoping the situation out.
