Bottomline......... for better or worse Office is the app I use most often. So, I want to know from you MBP folks honestly....

1. How does it run under Rosetta? Word/Excel/PP/Entourage
2. And what machine are you comparing its performace to?

Universal Binary for Office won't be available until the next full release of Office. My thinking is if it runs the same or nearly the same as on say a G4/1.33 or 1.5 PB (I have a 1.67) there is no need for me to even contemplate getting a MBP until the next release of Office is out. And at that point I can then get the latest rev of the MBP.

Please, let's stay on topic - no flames about M$!! That isn't the issue.

Which part of Office do you find sluggish? Is it spell-checking too slow? Calculating too slow? Usually when people think Office they don't think processor intensive high power app.

Office on a MBP will probably be similar in speed to a recent PowerBook G4.

I played with a Macbook pro at the Apple store earlier this evening. One of the first thing that I tried was MS Office, the trial version was installed on the machine. I was very impressesd with performance the start up time was just as fast as when I use Office on my dual 1.8 g5.

I downloaded a large word document off the internet and it had effortless scrolling, very smooth.

Hope this helps

A little off the specific topic but....

Could a MBP owner please post comments about Illustrator performance under Rosetta? You can download a fully functional trial versionhere. (adobe.com)
