So has anyone tried Doom 3 or WoW on the MBP yet?

Well, now that universal binaries of both Doom 3 and WoW are out and available to the public, has anyone had a chance to play either of these games on their MBP? I'm very excited to hear about performance, especially on those machines with the 256 MB Video card. I know that users of the iMac core duo were blown away by the performance of those Universal Binaries on their machines so I hope performance will be equally as impressive on the MBP (especially compared to the old powerbook G4s).

I'll let you know how WoW works sometime next week. My MBP left Shanghai China today.

I, too am greatly interested in the results for gaming on the MBP. As a WOW player, I am considering getting the MBP, but I first want to see how fast the 256MB card version runs.

Read the older posts in the forums... many people have commented on the very good WoW performance.

People in the WoW forums stated they were getting steady 50 fps with almost all the graphics settings maxed out even in places that normally cause slowdown on the iMac with 256 MB of VRAM. Since the MacBook Pro has very similar hardware specs but a lower resolution screen than the 20" iMac core duo I'm hoping that performance may even be a bit better than that!
Also has anyone had a chance to take Doom for a spin? I believe the UB was only released to the public a week or two ago so it's still relatively new.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that just because the specifications for a laptop appear to be the same as a desktop does NOT mean it will be as fast, or even similar. I know this may not be an apt comparison, but my HP Pavilion zv6000 runs on very similar parts compared to my desktop, yet it gets around 15-30 fps on WOW, while the desktop gets anywhere from 25-60.
