Just like the title says, I can't eject a OS 10.4 DVD install disk. I've tried resetting PMU, but there's a trick. There's no screen support, local or external. There also seems to be no response from keyboard. I've tried holding down eject button on start-up, track-pad button, zapping PRAM. Any other tricks or suggestions? Is there a physical way to remove the media from the disk drive?

One OS to Rule them all,
and in the Darkness [dramatic pause] Bind them.

Here is what Apple suggests - it looks like you may have to contact them and have it repaired. I don't recall if the PowerBooks have the paper clip eject mechanism or not (like the slot loading iMacs did) so I suggest phoning them to find out.

Holding the mouse/trackpad button during startup should work, unless you've inserted a non-standard disk?

Also, I've found it helpful to install an eject button in the menu bar: go to system/library/core services/menu extras and double-click the "eject.menu" item. It will put an eject button in the menu bar, which I've found helpful over the years (it sometimes works when other methods fail.) You can always remove it by option-dragging it out of the menu bar.

But the mouse/trackpad button on startup always works, unless the drive is damaged.

Final option to try: boot into open firmware (cmd-option-o-f) at boot time and type "eject cd" without the quotes. If the trackpad button holding or this don't work, there's something seriously wrong with your drive or the drive cable.
