I've been wanting to buy a mac laptop and now with the new macbook pro, am not quite sure which one to get. I'll use it mainly for Shake, some Maya, FCP and the Adobe products. I know the adobe stuff needs rosetta and read somewhere that the next version of shake will be intel native, but have no idea when that will be released. I'm a student and will use this mainly as a learning tool... which one should I go for?

Well, FCP will be native, so it makes sense that Shake would be soon too. We know that Adobe products will be the next major release before they support universal binaries. Maya ... we don't know yet, but it looks like it will run under Rosetta. As a student, the delay under Rosetta may not be significant to you, plus with the faster machine, it may still be on par with what you are already used to. YMMV.
