OK, so my original DVD-ROM drive in my Pismo (I think it's the LG-made unit) is on its last legs, it reads dvds only on good days and (this is scary) won't read my OSX install CD. So I was thinking of getting the Wegener slot-loading SuperDrive. But... if iDVD won't run on anything less than a 733mhz G4 machine, then what's the point of even getting a DVD burner if the software out there won't support it? I figure I'd ask before I take the $189.00 plunge

Specs: 400mhz G3, 60GB, 768MB ram, OS10.2.8

Toast and the Finder's burning capabilities work fine. The only thing you can't do is iDVD. Everything else works.

I was cheap and got a generic tray DVD-writer some time ago because my drive was dying, but now that I've got a G4 upgrade I'm thinking of upgrading it to a Pioneer K16, and that's half the price of the Wegener drive if you don't mind undoing some screws and losing a bit of aesthetics.
My Mac is a Pismo G4/550: 1GB RAM, 40GB 5.4k, Airport, DVD-R, and still black, silent and curvaceous!
