Is it safe to install logitech mouse drivers for my mx1000 laser mouse on my macbook pro? Do they have intel version? Any one have experience with this.

i don't think the logitech driver will work since it's a kernal extension, though I could be wrong

I know USB Overdrive http://www.usboverdrive.com/ is a universal binary now and will let you customize the buttons and stuff, though you'll have to pay $20 for it

if all you need are left click/right click, scroll wheel, and middle click support, the default OSX driver will handle it

The built-in OS X driver will also handle additional buttons if you want to use them for Exposé/Dashboard. If you want to use 'em for other stuff, you need to get USB Overdrive or SteerMouse, or wait for Logitech to port their driver.

I've been starting to wonder why Apple doesn't just subsume USB Overdrive's functionality in the Mouse Prefpane, since the OS can obviously already differentiate as many buttons as it needs to. That's one case where stepping on developers' toes actually makes a bit of sense..

Did you guys actually read my post?, I obviously KNOW that i can use my logitech mouse, with Apple's default drivers. BUT Apple's drivers SUCK for logitech, and the mouse is not smooth as glass like the usual logitech drivers.

Mainly I was curious if ANY brave souls have tried installing the logitech drivers and what happend. As far as USB overdrive, it doesn't make my logitech mouse smoothier, only the real logitech software seems to do the trick on the fast-rf, mx1000 laser mouse.

i tried loading up my mx duo keyboard and mouse (mx 700) and it didnt work . i highly doubt that logitech is diligently working on drivers either. instead of using my wireless beauties, im stuck with the apple keyboard and mighty mouse supplied with my iMac. please post if you find anything out, i know i will.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)
